Oregonian.

We've had some really nice, warm rains lately. Ev, in true Oregonian form, took the opportunity to get out and play in it.

2 weeks

On Sunday, Cora Jane was two weeks old.  Yesterday we had her 2 week check-up. Here are some recent pics and the stats!

Weight: 9lbs, 6oz. 82nd percentile. (Born at 8lbs, 12oz.)
Height: 21 inches. 94th percentile. (Born at 20.5 inches)
Head Circumference: 37.2 cm. 78th percentile. (Born at 35.5cm)

She's doing really well and the doc was happiest with her weight gain.   (Can I brag that she was already back to her birth weight 5 days after being born?)  We are continuing to adjust to home life (Ok, let's be honest, she's got it down. Mom is the one continuing to adjust to being home full-time alone.  It's harder than I thought it would be... but, we are doing great.) All in all, no complaints. Looking forward to the weather cooling down a bit more so we can spend more time outside!!

Brand New

Brendon, Annie, Evelyn and Khaya are proud to present a brand new addition to the Powell family...

Cora Jane Dietz Powell
Born at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, August 26th, 2012 at 4:58am
8lbs, 12oz and 20.5 inches
Yes folks, we have a true Southern belle on our hands.
We are thrilled and have been spending the past week getting to know her, so excuse the late post.  Here are a few pics from the past week...

First walk with the family of four...

Finally, you may note the Cora carries my maiden name as one of her middle names.  As the circle of life would have it, we learned that we lost my dear grandfather, Willard "Swede" Dietz just hours after Cora was born. I called my dad to tell him she was born and he called back no long after to tell us his dad had passed.  My grandfather was near and dear to me and we thought it appropriate to include his name in hers.
To me, her being 8 days overdue now makes perfect sense.
We'll miss you, grandpa.

Welcome Miss Cora. We look forward to getting to know you.
